Situated in the Gulf of Carpentaria in the remote tropical north of Australia, Groote Eylandt (Island) would meet all the expectations of someone looking for somewhere to really get away from it all and go fishing. Big game fishing that is. The Island also supplies 40% of the worlds manganese ore for syeel making, but that is another story.
In the main town of Alyangula there is the recreation club which has for many years, been the main entertainment focus of the island. Bands flown in from the mainland as well as local talent rely on the venues sound, lighting and instrument equipment as the possibility of bringing in equipment is limited due to the small amount of aircraft space.
In the past, the tough conditions of ultra high humidity and temperature have taken their toll on audio systems in the club, so when it was time for an upgrade; the venue selected a Quest sound system for the mix of bands and DJ as well as the general nightly entertainment. The previous distributed Quest audio system was installed some time ago and has functioned flawlessly for some time so when it came time for a main system refit, Quest had the track record for the job.
The system chosen consisted of a combination of 2 x QM series 212AS powered sub bass, QSA400 15 powered speakers and a set of QSA300 powered speakers for fold-back and general use.
The venue needed a system that could be easily disassembled and set up outside for outdoor events as well as individual powered box applications. The Quest system met all the requirements and more.
Its all smiles at the venue now and for many years to come.
