Caterpillar equip training centre with no bugs

Caterpillar yellow machines may be synonymous with earthmoving and big boy’s toys, but the company also is heavily involved with training and vocational development. The Caterpillar Institute training center has set a new benchmark in the provision of quality vocational and product education and training.

The national training institute in Tullamarine Victoria Australia has recently undergone an A/V refit to bring the training center up to the latest in quality vocational education. Part of this was a new audio system with enhanced zone control for a smooth educational experience.

The learning centre consists of 6 learning rooms, with 3 of the largest areas opening and closing to form a very large presentation space to suit 150 people.

Each room is now fitted with Quest HPI-5 speakers, chosen for their discrete size and incredible vocal intelligibility. Most pleasantly surprising was the even coverage across the rooms and the feedback rejection properties of the HF. A trainer can freely walk around the room with a wireless microphone and give a commentary during a video presentation without fear of distracting feedback or loss of intelligibility.

The system has been largely “future proofed” by quality sound design allowing for all manner of audio presentation and conferencing options.

Here’s a quick rundown of the system:

  • Customised Room Split/Combing & Control System (via IPAD)
  • 32 open to air microphones (including 24 table mics) with NO FEEDBACK.

Crystal clear vocal reproduction for teleconference and videoconference uses.
